2024 Best Neighborhoods to Live in San Antonio Area (2024)

  1. #4 Best Places to Live in San Antonio AreaTerrell HillsNeighborhood in San Antonio, TX·Rating 3.47 out of 5 17 reviewsCurrent Resident: I’ve lived in Terrell Hills with my family for almost 7 years now and it has been an amazing experience! It’s a great place to raise a family and all the houses are very pretty and exotic. The neighbors aren’t very friendly usually most of the residents are wealthy. They have seemed relatively friendly while others seem more standoffish. It can feel kind of isolating living in a neighborhood with what seems like more entitled individuals while others such as my neighbor next door have been extremely friendly, kind and receptive to my family often talking over the fence and exchanging greetings upon their meeting. Since being here I’ve felt harassed by some older men who work construction who have stared, gawked at me and stalked me. I understand that living in a wealthy neighborhood brings construction workers from outside the bubble. The construction is also very noisy at all times of the day which is super annoying and distracts me from doing my schoolwork.... 11. #33 Best Places to Live in San Antonio AreaGovernment HillNeighborhood in San Antonio, TX·Rating 4.33 out of 5 3 reviewsCurrent Resident: Great neighborhood with a lot of changes on the way. I've been living here since 1995 and it has gone subtle but still noticeable changes in mostly the positive direction. It is only blocks away from the bustling Broadway Corridor and The Pearl and a short drive to downtown. Mostly single family homes in the 130's+ though there are several multi-family units available. Great highway access and several infrastructure improvements (mostly sidewalks), however the opening of the S New Braunfels gate to Fort Sam Houston causes some traffic if you are trying to get to I-35. However, highly gentrified community mainly due to the developments of the surrounding area. Overall good neighborhood to start a family or just start off your life.... 23. MidtownNeighborhood in San Antonio, TX·Rating 3.25 out of 5 24 reviewsCurrent Resident: This neighborhood is full of awesome old bungalows and it has cool elevations. The public schools suck, but the area has many private school options. San Pedro Springs is the neighborhood park and it’s fantastic. There are the usual issues with the horrid homeless but that’s anywhere around any downtown in a major city. If you like are into architectural quality and cool bungalows close to downtown then this is the area for you, I like it much better than Tobin Hill on the Northside. Prices are not ridiculous like King William or Lavaca and you get the same quality. Not the crime of Dignowity and Government Hill. I’m a young professional and really recommend this area.
