THE MAJORITY OF ROADS WITHINTHE PARISH WERE LEFT IMPASSABLE DUE TO DOWNED TREES, POWER LINES ANDPOLES, OR OTHER DEBRIS. 1 MAN WAS KILLED WHEN IDAS WINDS CAUSED HISSHED TO COLLAPSE ON HIM. 100% OF THE PARISH WAS LEFT WITHOUT POWERAND THE WEST BANK OF THE PARISH WAS LEFT WITHOUT WATER SERVICEFOLLOWING THE STORM.ST. MOSTSTRUCTURES IN THE PARISH SUFFERED AT LEAST MINOR TO MODERATE ROOF OROTHER FASCIA DAMAGE, AND NUMEROUS BUILDINGS COLLAPSED OR SUFFEREDOTHER MAJOR DAMAGE IN THE FORM OF ROOF OR WALL FAILURE. NEARLY EVERYROAD IN THE PARISH WAS IMPASSABLE DUE TO DOWNED TREES, POWER LINESAND POLES, OR OTHER DEBRIS. AS IDAS STORM SURGE MOVED INTO THEPARISH FROM LAKES PONTCHARTRAIN AND MAUREPAS, FRENIER LANDING ANDLAPLACE WERE FLOODED. IN LAPLACE, MANY RESIDENTS WERE TRAPPED INTHEIR HOMES OR ATTICS BY UP TO 4-6 FEET OF WATER. APPROXIMATELY 800PEOPLE WERE RESCUED FROM THE LAPLACE AREA FOLLOWING THE STORM. THESTORM SURGE FLOODING ALSO COVERED I-10. IN THE AFTERMATH OF THESTORM, IDA WAS INDIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ONE CARBON MONOXIDERELATED DEATH.ST. TAMMANY 4 UNK 7THE PARISH SUFFERED SIGNIFICANT WIND DAMAGE, WITH THE GREATESTIMPACTS ACROSS THE WESTERN HALF OF THE PARISH. THOUSANDS OF TREESWERE DOWNED ACROSS THE PARISH, WITH WIDESPREAD MINOR TO MODERATEDAMAGE TO STRUCTURES AS WELL. MOST STRUCTURAL DAMAGE WAS IN THE FORMOF ROOF DAMAGE OR OTHER FASCIA DAMAGE, HOWEVER, SOME STRUCTURESSUFFERED MAJOR DAMAGE DUE TO FALLING TREES. ADDITIONAL WIND DAMAGEOCCURRED ACROSS THE EAST SIDE OF THE PARISH, AND THERE WERE 2CONFIRMED TORNADOES IN SLIDELL. STORM SURGE TOPPED THE SEAWALL INMANDEVILLE, FLOODING SEVERAL BLOCKS OF THE LAKEFRONT NEIGHBORHOOD.NEARLY 2 FEET OF WATER COVERED MUCH OF MADISONVILLE, AND AT LEASTONE HOME TOOK IN WATER. STORM SURGE FLOODING ALSO PUSHED WATER INTOSOME HOMES AND CUT OFF LOW LYING PORTIONS OF SLIDELL. HEAVY RAINRESULTED IN MODERATE TO MAJOR FLOODING ALONG THE TCHEFUNCTE ANDBOGUE FALAYA RIVERS. THE STORM IS INDIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR 4FATALITIES IN THE PARISH - 1 DUE TO AN ALLIGATOR ATTACK, 1 DUE TOLACK OF OXYGEN DURING THE POWER OUTAGE, 1 DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT, AND1 DUE TO TRAUMA FALLING OFF A ROOF DURING STORM CLEANUP.TANGIPAHOA 2 UNK 248THE PARISH SUFFERED SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS FROM WIND, AND HEAVY RAIN.IDAS WINDS DOWNED TREES AND POWER LINES PARISH-WIDE AS THE EASTERNEYEWALL TRAVERSED FAR WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE PARISH. STRUCTURESTHROUGHOUT THE PARISH SUFFERED AT LEAST MINOR TO MODERATE ROOF OROTHER FASCIA DAMAGE, AND NUMEROUS BUILDINGS SUFFERED OTHER MAJORDAMAGE FROM ROOF FAILURE OR FALLING TREES. MOST ROADS IN THE PARISHWERE IMPASSABLE DUE TO DOWNED TREES, POWER LINES AND POLES, OR OTHERDEBRIS. HEAVY RAINFALL LED TO MODERATE TO MAJOR FLOODING ALONG THETANGIPAHOA RIVER WITH MINOR FLOODING ALONG THE NATALBANY RIVER. THEFLOODING WAS LIKELY MADE WORSE BY STORM SURGE FLOODING IN THE MARSHYAREAS SOUTH OF PONCHATOULA HINDERING DRAINAGE. IN THE AFTERMATH OFTHE STORM IDA WAS INDIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR TWO FATALITIES - ONENURSING HOME DEATH AND ONE CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING.TERREBONNE 1 UNK UNKIDAS SECOND LANDFALL WAS IN TERREBONNE PARISH SOUTHEAST OFMONTEGUT. THE PARISH SUFFERED EXTREME IMPACTS AS THE EYEWALL RAKEDTHE EASTERN HALF OF THE PARISH AS IT MOVED INLAND. THERE WASWIDESPREAD CATASTROPHIC DAMAGE TO STRUCTURES THROUGHOUT THE PARISHAND BOTH OF THE PARISHS HOSPITALS WERE SEVERELY DAMAGED. ANESTIMATED 60% OF HOMES IN THE PARISHS BAYOU COMMUNITIES WERE DEEMEDUNSAFE FOR HABITATION, WITH MANY LOSING THEIR ROOF STRUCTURESREMOVED, COLLAPSED WALLS, OR TREES FALLING THROUGH THEM. THE LUMCONMARINE CENTER IN COCODRIE SUFFERED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE, AND SEVERALPUBLIC BUILDINGS INCLUDING 2 FIRE DEPARTMENTS ALSO SUFFERED MAJORSTRUCTURAL DAMAGE. MOST POWER POLES WERE SNAPPED OR DAMAGED. NEARLYEVERY ROAD IN THE PARISH WAS BLOCKED BY DOWNED TREES, UTILITY POLES,OR OTHER DEBRIS. DURING THE STORM, 2 OFFSHORE VESSELS BROKE FREE,CRASHING INTO THE BOUQUET BRIDGE NEAR DULAC. THE ENTIRE PARISH WASLEFT WITHOUT POWER AND MOST WITHOUT NATURAL GAS OR WATER SERVICEFOLLOWING THE STORM. WHILE SOME STORM SURGE FLOODING OCCURRED AS THESTORM APPROACHED, THE NORTHERLY WINDS OF THE WESTERN EYEWALLRESULTED IN SIGNIFICANT WATER BLOW OUT. THE STRONG WINDS AND CURRENTCAUSED DAMAGE TO THE PARISHS MAIN FLOODGATE ON THE HOUMANAVIGATIONAL CANAL WHICH WAS DESIGNED TO WITHSTAND STRONGER FORCESFROM THE SOUTH. THE STORM WAS INDIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ONE NURSINGHOME DEATH.WASHINGTON 0 UNK 22THE PARISH SUFFERED MAINLY MINOR WIND IMPACTS IN THE FORM OF DOWNEDTREES AND POWERLINES AND SOME MINOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO ROOFS. ATTHE PEAK, APPROXIMATELY 30% OF THE PARISH WAS WITHOUT POWER.WEST BATON ROUGE 0 UNK 0THE PARISH SUFFERED MAINLY MINOR WIND IMPACTS WITH A FEW TREES DOWNAND SOME MINOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO ROOFS. MOSTSIGNS ALONG S. BEACH BLVD WERE ALSO BLOWN DOWN OR DAMAGED. THE BAYWAVELAND TIDE GAUGE PEAKED AT 6.91 FT MHHW, INDICATING ROUGHLY 6-7FT OF INUNDATION. MANY AREAS BECAME INACCESSIBLE DUE TO THE HIGHWATER. OVER 400 ROADS WERE FLOODED BY STORM SURGE IN COASTALPORTIONS OF THE COUNTY, INCLUDING US HWY 90 AND STATE HWY 604.ADDITIONAL FLOODING OCCURRED DUE TO HEAVY RAINFALL, WITH PORTIONS OFTHE COUNTY RECEIVING 12-14 INCHES OF RAIN. IN TOTAL, COUNTY DAMAGEASSESSMENTS INDICATE 96 PUBLIC ROADS SUFFERED DAMAGE ALONG WITH 13PUBLICLY OWNED BUILDINGS AND 60 HOMES, INCLUDING ONE MOBILE HOMETHAT WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. AT THE PEAK, ROUGHLY 6400 CUSTOMERSWERE WITHOUT POWER DUE TO THE STORM.HARRISON 0 UNK 155THE COUNTY EXPERIENCED IMPACTS DUE TO BOTH WIND AND FLOODING.WIDESPREAD MINOR TREE AND STRUCTURAL DAMAGE WAS REPORTED ACROSS THECOUNTY DUE TO IDAS WINDS AS WELL AS 9 CONFIRMED TORNADOES. THECONFIRMED TORNADOES WERE ALL LOCATED IN COASTAL PORTIONS OF THECOUNTY AND WERE THE RESULT OF WATERSPOUTS MOVING ONSHORE. AT LEASTONE MOBILE HOME WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED WHEN A TREE FELL THROUGHTHE MIDDLE OF IT. FLOODING FROM STORM SURGE AND HEAVY RAINFALL ALSOAFFECTED THE COUNTY. STORM SURGE RENDERED MOST OF HWY 90 THROUGHTHE COUNTY IMPASSABLE DUE TO HIGH WATER DURING THE STORM, AS WELL ASSAND AND DEBRIS COVERING THE ROADWAY AFTER THE WATER RECEDED.JACKSON 0 UNK 31THE COUNTYS MAIN IMPACTS WERE DUE TO FLOODING - BOTH FROM RAINFALLAND STORM SURGE. THE NOAA TIDE GAUGE NEAR PASCAGOULA REPORTED A PEAKOF 3.84 FT MHHW, INDICATING ROUGHLY 3-4 FT OF INUNDATION. HEAVYRAINFALL OF 10-13 INCHES FELL ACROSS MUCH OF THE COUNTY AS WELL.APPROXIMATELY 22 WATER RESCUES OCCURRED, BOTH FROM HOMES AND FROMCARS, WITH 15 IN MOSS POINT. APPROXIMATELY 150 ROADS WERE COVERED INWATER, CUTTING OFF AT LEAST 300 HOMES AND BUSINESSES AT THE HEIGHTOF THE FLOODING. THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE ROAD AND THE SEAWALLFROM WATER EROSION.
